High levels of radon can be found in any indoor space, including homes, office buildings, and schools in Greenville. Radon is an invisible, odorless, radioactive gas, and radon exposure can significantly increase an individual’s risk for lung cancer. The only way to know if radon levels are high is to test for it.
You should test for radon when moving into a new home, undergoing any construction or renovation project, or after installing or modifying HVAC equipment. Radon testing should also be performed periodically in Grand Rapids homes and businesses every 5 years. If high levels of radon above 4 pCi/L are detected and a radon mitigation system is installed, retesting should occur every 2 years.
Radon mitigation systems consist of a network of pipes and a fan to divert radon gas away from the foundation, where it can be safely expelled outdoors. This process neutralizes negative pressure that draws gas into homes and buildings from the surrounding soil.
There is no safe level of radon. The goal of radon mitigation should be to achieve radon levels comparable to the outdoors at about 2 pCi/L or less.
There is no legal requirement in Michigan to test for radon when selling a home. However, many buyers will request radon testing if a test has not been performed within the last 2 years or if the test was not performed by a professional.

Radon mitigation system installation
This radon mitigation system was just installed here in Greenville Michigan for an old farm house. This older home had heavy clay underneath the basement slab, this made the removal of the substrate difficult but we were able to create a large suction pot. The vacuum pressure indicates the system’s CFM of air being pulled underneath the basement slab is working well.
This radon mitigation system installation went well. The house is a walkout and had interior drain tile along only the front portion of the foundation and none along the sides. The radon system should be working fine but we guarantee our work and if we need to comeback and add a higher suction fan to the system to achieve low radon levels we will.
Today I installed a radon mitigation on the exterior of a home located in Greenville Michigan. The job went well and the radon fan is pulling a good vacuum from underneath the basement slab because the substrate was loose dirt and gravel, which is great for radon mitigation.
Just did a pre treatment for a new construction. I treated the foundation and the soil around the perimeter of the lot for wood destroying insects.
